A small landscaping project

At our new house n Onion Creek, we have acquired a huge front lawn of, yes - St. Augustine grass. this summer, we noticed a triangular patch near the front sidewalk that looked very bad. It got too much sun and not enough water from the auto sprinkler system. So Bill, the ham-fisted handyman, ripped out the weedy sod, dug up the area, added sand and compost, and carefully planted the plants that Whitney and I experienced great enjoyment choosing and bringing home. We hope this area flourishes in full sun, and demands little water after getting established. I will admit, I sneaked a few rose bushes into the left side. But they are antique roses and will do well with neglect. Amazon, Mutabalis, and St. Charles. I'm excited to have rose buses again. Bill's favorite is the blue twist yucca.

Bill has the sink installed, and will start on the tile surrounding the base.

New kitchen floor in San Marcos

On home-improvement projects, please remember this rule - one thing LEADS TO ANOTHER! We simply wanted to replace a faulty, old refrigerator. Bill was going to re plumb the kitchen wall for water for the new refrigerator, which hopefully will have an ice maker. Seriously, can anyone get by in Texas without an ice-maker? Once we pulled out the old fridge, we started looking at the shabby, torn existing vinyl and one thing led to another. Remember the home-improvement golden rule? We ripped up the floor, with the intention of replacing the old vinyl with new vinyl. However, we have searched high and low for a decent vinyl replacement, one that does not fake the look of real ceramic tile. Can't find a pattern we like, so we have decided to tile this floor ourselves. Now we have to quickly get a new fridge in place for the house occupants, and pick a tile and grout color and get to work.
